5 Must-Watch Films That Will Make You Want to Own Diamonds

Diamonds have been one of the most popular stones. With their quality and sparkles, it is no wonder why there are many jewellery collectors, enthusiasts, and investors who pick diamonds as something they should explore.

If you don’t have any kind of diamonds yet, and you’re still thinking about whether you should get at least one, you might just need to watch a film or two that will make you want to start a diamond collection. In this article, we’ll give you a list of films you should try that feature some of the best diamonds you’ll ever see.

1. Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (1953)

“I just love finding new places to wear diamonds.”, and “Diamonds are a girl’s best friend.” are some of the things you can hear from this fabulous musical/ film. Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (1953) stars Marilyn Monroe and Jane Russell, who both show elegance and a love for diamonds.

In the musical, the 24-carat Moon of Baroda diamond necklace that was from India’s Golconda mines near Hyderabad was worm by Monroe, and she was thankful about it as it was the biggest, most expensive diamond she had worn.

Meanwhile, around the release of the musical, the De Beers also released their tagline, “Diamonds are forever”, which makes diamonds a must-have for anyone who appreciates good jewellery.

2. Breakfast at Tiffany’s (1961)

Holly Golightly’s (played by Audrey Hepburn) obsession with Tiffany’s is something many diamond enthusiasts can relate to. In the opening scene of Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Holly gets out of a cab, walks in front of Tiffany’s store, and gets her breakfast from a takeout bag. While she’s having her breakfast, she’s also admiring the beauty of diamond jewellery from the window of the store.

And it’s not like she’s in her pyjamas. No, she’s wearing her signature black dress, her hair is well-organised, and she’s wearing jewellery layers. The scene depicts that she looks as if she belongs to a world where diamonds are dreams that can come true.

So, whether you want a pink diamond necklace or a pair of clear diamond earrings, don’t lose hope of achieving them in the future.

3. Ocean’s 8 (2018)

Although it’s something you should try, Ocean’s 8 can make you believe that you can achieve one of the most expensive diamond necklaces if you have a thorough plan and a team of great women.

Of course, the film can make you want to have diamonds, but it’s not the best way to have some. Besides, no matter how thorough the plan and execution are, it’s not 100% successful as Daphne Kluger (played by Anne Hathaway) still managed to catch the whole act even when she’s throwing up in the toilet.

So, instead of the original seven members dividing the share of diamonds, it becomes eight. Meanwhile, the Toussaint necklace was made by Cartier craftsmen in Paris in 1931. And since it’s too expensive, they just made the prop similar to it. However, the film still features many scenes with real diamonds at the Cartier Mansion in New York.

4. How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days (2003)

“Say hello to Isadora”, Mr. DeLauer says as he puts the 84-carat yellow diamond pendant to Andie Anderson’s (played by Kate Hudson) neck during the “Frost Yourself” gala.

Andie attends the gala hoping that things get smooth with her relationship to Ben (played by Matthew McConaughey). However, initially, both of them had to look for someone who would fall in love with them for different reasons. Andie’s main goal is to lose a guy in ten days when she does the typical annoying stuff girlfriends do to their partner that makes them leave.

Meanwhile, Ben needs to prove that his charisma and personality are perfect and that he can make anyone fall for him before the gala. If he succeeds, he gets to lead the new campaign for their advertising agency.

Although the initial goal of the two parties is off, they still manage to forgive each other. At the same time, with all the diamonds present during the gala, you would want to be a part of it all, except for the drama.

5. Pretty Woman (1990)

Vivian (played by Julia Roberts) enters a room wearing a long, red dress, wearing make-up, and her hair done. She already looks stunning, but Edward (played by Richard Gree) says something is missing. When Vivian replies, “Nothing else is going to fit this dress”, he hands her a box but tells her not to be too excited since it’s a loan. When he opens the box, it contains a white gold necklace with 23 rubies and diamonds, which was made especially for the film. However, the jewellery is not something to forget about as it’s worth around $1.35 million.

The Enduring Allure of Diamonds

No matter what the story is about, when a film features stunning diamonds, there’s something about them that evokes emotions. In some instances, you may find yourself dreaming of what it feels like to have the same diamonds as what you see in films.
